Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
- Perform all duties safely and professionally in compliance with QMS, HSE, company procedures, and industry standards, ensuring completion of daily inspections and accurate records.
- Operate and control drilling and hoisting equipment from the driller’s console, including drawworks, rotary systems, mud pumps, and related controls to ensure safe and efficient drilling operations.
- Plan, direct, and execute all drilling activities including drilling ahead, tripping, running and cementing casing, well testing, and special operations such as fishing, coring, and deviation control.
- Prepare BHA, rig floor equipment, and oversee all operational readiness for drilling, tripping, and casing activities.
- Monitor drilling parameters continuously and take corrective actions to ensure well integrity, equipment performance, and compliance with the drilling program.
- Lead and supervise the rig crew, assign tasks, organize special projects, and ensure effective communication, training, and shift handovers.
- Conduct Toolbox Talks and safety meetings, ensuring all personnel understand procedures, risks, and safety measures.
- Ensure implementation and compliance with company management systems (QMS, HSE) and proper documentation of training and communications.
- Maintain full well control at all times, including shut-in, kill operations, and preparation of kill sheets.
- Apply well control procedures in accordance with company standards and ensure readiness of well control equipment and documentation.
- Identify and respond to downhole conditions and kick indicators to maintain well safety.
- Oversee inspection, operation, and maintenance of drilling equipment including draw works, rotary, swivel, derrick, mud systems, and standpipe manifold.
- Initiate and supervise daily maintenance routines and repairs, ensuring all safety-critical equipment is operational.
- Support and enforce preventive maintenance programs for drilling equipment.
- Lead, motivate, and train the drilling crew to ensure safe, efficient performance and proper equipment handling.
- Maintain communication with supervisors (Toolpusher/Night Pusher) and report operational status, deviations, and requirements.
- Ensure good housekeeping practices across the rig site.
- Manage administrative responsibilities in line with company management systems.
- Complete IADC reports, drilling logs, and all required operational and well control documentation.
- Perform technical calculations (e.g., pressures, volumes, ton-miles, mud weight, casing limits).
- Interpret gauges, instruments, and technical data to support decision-making.
- Refer to drilling manuals, equipment guides, and technical references for operational support.
Minimum Requirements:
- General education diploma with 8 years of experience.
- Valid IWCF Level (3).
