Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

• Conduct daily inspections of rig equipment and operations, ensuring all required records and reports are accurately completed and maintained.
• Perform all duties in a safe, professional, courteous, and conscientious manner, strictly adhering to Company QMS, HSE MS, and client requirements.
• Prepare and operate BHA, rig floor, drilling, hoisting, and well control equipment for drilling, tripping, casing, cementing, and other special operations.
• Operate the driller’s console, including brakes, clutches, throttles, mud pumps, rotary table, and monitoring systems, to safely control drilling parameters in line with the approved Well Program or instructions from the TP/NP.
• Continuously monitor drilling parameters to ensure well integrity, safe operations, and efficient performance of rig machinery; promptly report deviations and initiate corrective actions.
• Execute and manage drilling operations including directional drilling, stuck pipe operations, fishing, coring, well testing, wireline logging, deviation surveys, and slip and cut of drill line.
• Manage and oversee casing running and cementing operations, ensuring proper coordination and compliance with procedures.
• Apply effective well control practices, including securing the well in emergencies, shutting in, killing the well when required, completing kill sheets, maintaining pump strokes, and ensuring updated well control equipment schematics are available at the driller’s cabin at all times.
• Plan, organize, and direct drill crew activities, including special projects, while providing leadership, motivation, and clear work instructions.
• Conduct Tool Box Talks (TBTs), safety meetings, and task-based briefings at the start of each shift and during changes in operations, ensuring communication is recorded as per procedures.
• Ensure all crew members are properly inducted and trained in applicable QMS, HSEMS, well control, and operational procedures, and coach the crew in safe and efficient work practices.
• Supervise and initiate daily maintenance routines, inspections, lubrication, and minor repairs of assigned rig equipment, including drawworks, rotary system, swivels, derrick, standpipe manifold, and drilling fluid systems.
• Assist with implementation of the preventive maintenance system and ensure housekeeping standards are consistently maintained on and around the rig.
• Maintain proficiency in Safety Critical Equipment and ensure its safe and efficient operation at all times.
• Prepare detailed handover notes for relief personnel and keep the supervisor informed of operational status, changing conditions, and any operator requests.
• Complete all required documentation, including IADC drilling reports, drilling logs, well control data sheets, and other company or client records.
• Perform operational calculations such as MAASP, mud weight adjustments, circulating pressures, hydrostatic pressures, volumes, casing burst pressure, ton-miles, and other drilling-related computations.
• Demonstrate strong knowledge of well control principles, drilling practices, and downhole conditions, and accurately interpret data from gauges, meters, instruments, charts, manuals, and technical references.
• Locate, interpret, and apply information from drilling manuals, cementing tables, hydraulics references, manufacturer manuals, and equipment catalogues.
• Carry out all administrative duties assigned under Abraj Energy’s Management System and maintain compliance with all documented procedures and instructions.

Minimum Requirements:

• Diploma holder in any field.
• 4 years of experience in drilling rig operations.
• Valid IWCF Level 3 certification is mandatory.
