Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
• Contributes to the development and implementation of Abraj Business Strategies and plans by participating in planning process, seeking ways to improve earnings through service growth and enhanced revenues.
• Optimizing variable and fixed assets, seeking opportunities to expand into other related activities and ensuring that strategies and plans link to the key profitability drivers.
• Provides Board of Directors with financial analysis and forecasts required strategic decision making including long-term plans and strategy documents.
• Working along with Executive Committee to provide due diligence, project evaluation and business case review including cross-border cash-flow management, acquisition accounting and other procedures for joint ventures.
• Contributes to the management of business risk by identifying sources of business risk, developing appropriate policies, controls and procedures, recommending these to the Board and Executive Committee for implementation.
• Manages the effectiveness of subordinate managers by providing leadership building an effective team, developing and agreeing their accountabilities and standards of performance, supporting achievement of these accountabilities through counsel, guidance and the underwriting of resources, monitoring results actually achieved, carrying out performance appraisals, determining training needs and developing effective training plans, encouraging and stimulating staff to realize their potential and optimize their career progress.
• Liaises with External and Internal Auditors including government auditors; supports the Audit and Risk Management Committee to establish and maintain adequate internal controls throughout to ensure the economical and efficient use of resources, the safeguarding of resources, the reliability and integrity of information, the efficient operation of business processes and adherence of laws and regulations.
• Assists CEO and the Board of Directors with ad-hoc projects and special assignments as required.
• Provides financial management information and advice to the Board of Directors, CEO, and Managers to identify and pursue orderly growth opportunities.
• Measure performance, identify and control business risk and increase shareholder value by leading Abraj Finance function ensuring appropriate standards, systems and procedures.
• Development of accounting systems and procedures to ensure Abraj financial operations are well controlled, and efficiency of financial processes are optimized, partnering and integrating finance into the business.
• Abraj Annual Financial Accounts Reporting preparation, Approving Accounting Policies and Practices and ensuring compliance with International Accounting Standards.
• Management of any of Abraj investments, borrowings and Foreign Exchange requirements with the objective of ensuring that Abraj has adequate and appropriate facilities and that borrowing costs and returns on surplus funds are optimized.
• Maintenance of relationships with Abraj Bankers and the provision of advice to the Board on borrowing arrangements and facilities.
• Approval of the development and implementation of policies with Board approval to manage interest rate and currency exposures.
• Establishment and maintenance of a system for controlling and reporting Abraj Capital Expenditure; provision of assistance to Management in controlling expenditure on approved capital projects. Management of a Post Expenditure Review process for all investments and capital projects approved by the Board.
• Establishment and maintenance of a budgetary control system to ensure that there are effective systems for controlling and reporting Operating Expenses throughout Abraj.
• Responsible for design and implementation of necessary corporate governance standards including delegation of authorities and control to help ensure safeguard of company assets and mitigation of business risks.
• Management reporting within Abraj including preparation of monthly Management Reports.
• Developing an information network across Abraj that can integrate business functions and measure enterprise and business unit performance.
• Focal Point for Investor Relations strategy
Minimum Academic/ Professional Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or any related field.
• Any related finance & accounting courses such as (CA / CPA / ACCA) are preferred
