Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

OPERATIONS:
•    Complete daily inspection and maintain required records.
•    Perform all duties in a safe, professional, courteous, and conscientious manner.
•    Supervises all drilling operations
•    Supervises the application of appropriate well control measures
•    Supervise and plan rig moves and camp moves
•    As Abraj Energy’s Representative on the Rig - He executes disciplinary authority over all Abraj Energy’s Employees in conjunction with respective Drilling supt.
•    Plans, manages, supervises and controls the day to day activities of the rig in compliance with Company’s QM-,DOP- and SM System, respective Drilling Contract Requirements and application of good Drilling Practice Requirements.
•    Liaises with Client Representative on all Operational and HSE related aspects as stipulated in respective Drilling Contract or as contained in Client Instruction given from time to time in conjunction with this contract.
•    He reports to his Drilling Superintendent on a regular basis (Morning Call) and whenever any non-routine matter arises that is out of the scope of Companies documented procedures and instruction or requested explicitly in Company’s documented Management System or by respective DS.
•    Responsible for implementing training and instruction as assigned by management on his rig site.
•    Responsible for the correct crew manning requirements on his site to ensure safe and continued operations.
•    Ensures that all documentation is correct and checked for work carried out on the site.
•    Responsible to ensure compliance and monitoring of all training requirements of rig based staff.
EQUIPMENT:
•    Keeps equipment and systems operational in accordance with the relevant 
•    regulatory and safety requirements
•    Monitor rig equipment and ensure systems usage is within its recommended parameters
•    Supervises testing and checking of equipment and systems
•    Supervises activities to ensure rig structural integrity
•    Required to maintain proper inventory of assets and consumables at all time
LIVING ENVIRONMENT AND SERVICES:
•    Oversees maintenance of sanitary living environment, food preparation, handling, storage and ensure periodic inspection.
•    Oversees rig medical operations
•    Oversees rig communications
EMERGENCY DUTIES:
•    Secures well in emergency situation
•    Directs well control operations
•    Directs crew in loss of rig stability
•    Makes decision to evacuate/abandon the rig
MANAGEMENT:
•    Plans work for crew
•    Trains crew
•    Evaluates crews
•    Provides motivation to supervisors and crews
•    Supervise adherence to safety policies and procedures
•    Always lead by example
•    Maintain relationship with customer’s representative
•    Control budget and inventory
•    Maintain hand-over notes for his relief
•    Ensure communication between departments
•    Ensure immediate supervisor is advised of all current and/or changing conditions
•    Co-ordinate utilization of equipment and power
•    Ensures that the drilling program is carried out in a safe and efficient manner
•    Safeguards the physical presence of fixed assets and inventories so appropriate records will be accurate and periodically verified
ADMINISTRATION:
•    Maintain appropriate logs and records
•    Organizes and promote PMS (Preventive Maintenance System) with particular emphasis on safety defined in the MPP manual
•    Approve and sign IADC report
•    Submit reports
•    Oversee departmental logs and records
•    Comply with requirements of regulatory agencies
•    Oversee company rig training program
TECHNICAL/DIAGNOSTIC SKILLS:
•    Prepares cementing and casing running with operator
•    Finds information on parts, equipment, data and/or operations procedures as 
•    required using such sources as composite catalogs, cementing tables, tubular data books
•    Read blueprints
•    Perform calculations such as maximum allowable shut-in, casing burst pressure, hang-off point, mud weight increase, initial and final circulating pressures, hydrostatic pressure & volumes, displacement, maximum allowable mud weight and drill line work
•    Interpret and responds appropriately to down hole conditions
•    Demonstrate full knowledge of well control procedures
•    Read and interpret various types of gauges, meters and instruments such as torque meter, weight indicator, pressure gauges, various chart recorders
•    Assist operator in efficient use of rig
•    Ensure subordinates know, understand and follow guidelines of the QHSE manual, well control policies and other general operating policies and procedures
•    Use computer to prepare daily drilling report and for compiling WPA report at end of each well.
